One of the founders of Berhan Grains had a vision of a sun dawning above the forested hills over a small countryside village in Ethiopia, an image not unlike the landscape she grew up in. The imagery of this vision reflects the meaning of Berhan, an Amharic word for “light”, as well as the mission for this company- to introduce you to teff and use this amazing grain as a portal into the heart of Ethiopian/Eritrean culture, history, and of course, cooking.
