What does Potato Hole mean?

The term comes from slavery, when slaves had to dig holes in the earthen floors of their cabins. It was the only place they had to keep food cool — and, in some cases, to hide it and store it. For us, Potato Hole is a place where you can find and honor the treasures of the black community.

I’m a Black business owner, how do I list on Potato Hole?

To share your majority Black-owned business with Potato Hole, please use this form. We are currently focused on listing businesses with a national presence that have an e-commerce website. The reason is that we want Potato Hole to be a place of action, where anyone can support your business.

My business is a local restaurant or service, how can I be on Potato Hole?

At the moment, our focus is on national brands with a website that ships nationally. We want to make sure everyone that is visiting Potato Hole can support any business they find on the site.

My business is not Black-owned, can I still get involved?

We’re so glad you’re here! We are working on an ally program, where businesses can engage with Potato Hole even if they are not Black-owned. Stay tuned.
